I have some sad news about Kirby’s. As of Sunday 30th Sept, the studio will close its doors for good.
Alas, even with the constant bombardment of information from the NHS and news sources about how we need to take greater care of our health, there is not enough demand to warrant keeping the studio open any longer.
The studio had been my dream since I started my journey to becoming a PT eight years ago. I have had six amazing years of being a PT since I founded Kirby’s at the start of 2012. Two and half years ago I was in a position to be able to get the private space I had envisioned for clients, and enable my home to return to being just that. The purpose of the studio was to take the intimidation factor out of big gyms, to allow people to feel safe, comfortable and completely confident in a training environment, and to put the ‘personal’ back into personal training. I think I succeeded in that.
Alas, PT is very much a luxury item and with the current uncertainty in the world, at large, it is often the first thing people will drop. It is a hard business to be a sole trader in, but it has had many moments of joy that made it so worthwhile.
I am heartbroken to close, but a new chapter beckons.
To my clients, past and present, you have been an absolute joy to train and you’ve taught me so much. I am very blessed to have crossed paths with each and everyone of you. I wish you nothing but love, health and happiness for your future.
So, there it is. The end of an era.
